This is your chance to help guide ESSA into the 2017-2018 season!  Join us for the ESSA Annual General Meeting (AGM).

    Thursday June 15th, 7:00 PM
    Victoria Park Pavilion

At this time we will be electing a new executive committee as well as several other non-executive volunteer positions.  If you are interested in any of these positions or are looking for more information on any of them please contact Diane Anderson (programcoordinator@edmontonspeedskating.ca) in advance of the AGM.

Note that this season we are looking to have a parent representative for each of our skating groups (FUNdamentals, Novice, Intermediate, Adult/Masters).  These are new positions created in our continuing effort to improve our communication to all of our groups.  These representatives will be the first line of contact for parents in these groups.  They will help answer any questions, and attend executive meetings when possible.

2017-2018 Volunteer Positions are listed below (italics indicates we do not yet have anyone who has expressed interest in filling this position).

    Elected Executive:
    President
    Vice President

    • If you are in Intermediate or Advanced but not attending the Sue Ellis camp, you can attend either event (your training begins in September).
    • If you are in Novice or FUNdamentals and not attending the Sue Ellis camp your rental event will be held in SEPTEMBER in conjunction with 'New Family Night' (your training begins in October).

    IMPORTANT:

    THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL!

ESSA is thrilled to announce that we have secured former US national team short track coach Sue Ellis to hold a camp in Edmonton August 25-27, 2017.  This is truly a fantastic opportunity for our skaters to receive world class instruction right here in our own city!

Space is limited.  Only 30 spots are available for the camp and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  ESSA members are invited to take advantage of the exclusive registration window through June 14th.  See the link below for all the camp information and registration details.

Do you know a child aged 3-17 who would like to TRY SPEED SKATING?  Here is your chance!

    TRY SPEED SKATING with ESSA
    Thursday September 21st
    Clareview Arena A
    6:45 - 8:15 PM (on ice 7:15 - 8:15)

All you need to bring is a helmet and gloves. ESSA will have speed skates in many sizes for skaters to try.  We will begin distributing skates at 6:45 PM.  Participants will have the chance to be on the ice 7:15-8:15 PM with guidance from ESSA skaters (come and go as you please).  Join us and see what this wonderful sport is all about!  There's still time to join our fall and full season programs.

Participants should be able to stand on skates and propel themselves forward without hanging on to the boards.

Adults are also welcome to try speed skating at this time, but note that ESSA currently only offers long track programming to new adult skaters (December - March outdoors at Victoria Oval).
